Unlike conventional radiation, which can have side effects such as lung cancer, proton therapy delivers high doses of radiation to the tumor without damaging the surrounding healthy tissues, making it an excellent treatment option for chordomas. In addition, it is possible to deliver the tumor-destroying radiation with more precision, thereby minimizing radiation-related side effects.
